General Information
History
The Department of Nutrition and Dietetics was established in 2009 within the Elazığ School of Health and received its first students with 41 students in 2014-2015. The department has continued within the Faculty of Health Sciences since 2016. Fazilet ERMAN and Seda ÖNAL in 2013, Gökçe KAYA, Ayfer BEYAZ ÇOŞKUN, Murat AÇIK, Murat ALTAN and Hayrunisa İÇEN in 2014, Semra TÜRKOĞLU and Nadide Eda AKSIN BELHAN in 2015, Şule AYHAN in 2022 and finally Şeyma Nur DEMİREL in 2024 joined the academic staff of the department. Our department continues its education with 2 professors, 1 associate professor, 3 assistant professors, 1 research assistant, 3 research assistants, and 1 lecturer.

Aim of the Program
A dietitian; It is a person who has been trained in the field of nutrition and dietetics, evaluates the nutritional habits of individuals and societies, plans and implements appropriate diet therapy for them, and provides education on these issues. Nutrition and Dietetics is a branch of science that emerged as a result of the interaction of disciplines and disciplines of social sciences, basic sciences, and technological sciences together with health sciences.
Students entering this department will graduate with the title of “Dietitian” if they are successful after 4 years of education.
The branch of nutrition and dietetics science, the development of human health and the creation of the nutritional order necessary to maintain a quality life, determination of the existing nutritional status, implementation of the recommendations determined by investigating the solutions for improving the nutritional level, determination and guidance of the country's food, nutrition plans, and policies, determination of the nutritional requirements of different age groups, this program aims to educate the manpower who will carry out scientific studies in various fields such as the regulation and implementation of disease-specific diets, management and organization of food service in institutions providing mass nutrition services, and who will ensure the establishment of adequate and balanced nutrition awareness in the society in terms of health protection and development and treatment of diseases by developing various abilities and skills.
